In expanding Paris’ Opéra Bastille, Henning Larsen seeks to give a controversial icon the connection it always meant to have.ĭesigned by Canadian-Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott in the early 1980s, Paris’ Opéra Bastille modeled a modern reimagining of the opera house, characterized by extensive technical capabilities and an aesthetic defying the gilded, ornate image traditionally associated with the opera.
